Last year the Strobridge family took a big leap of faith and opened their fields up to campers using HipCamp.com as their booking platform. This was a great way for us newbies to get our feet wet. There was a lot of sweat, blood and tears (too many splinters, bee stings and stressful nights) that went into getting the first primative sites up and then our canvas glamping tent site going. We had time to reflect over the long cold nights of winter on what the heck happened. Not only did we get it going but it was wildly succesful. What a great and joyous thing we were able to share with cabin fever pandemic fleeing folks from all over our region. With unbelievable sunrises and big open starry skies that those of us have experienced never get old, Harold's View Farm, won big and the family is looking forward to continueing this streak with the coming season.
Although there are still patches of snow mixed into the mud of spring we are hoping to start welcoming campers in May. The farm had once been a dairy farm with lots of pasture and hay fields. Although the haying has continued the rest of the agriculture activities paused after the big barn burned down in the 80s. In 2021 we are changing that up a little bit! We have plans to till up one of the lower fields to plant corn that will be a future maze with a pumpkin patch on the side or the fall foliage season! We are also planning a little over an acre of sunflowers for late summer fun. This is just the beginning! I hope you are ready to enjoy the fun, even if you are just and armchair spectator!
